Reset Combination On Master Lock

The light that is in the world

C i was a man. How could this man talking about God telling the truth? He was sent from God What was his name? His name was John. For what purpose he was? He came as a witness, to testify to the light, that all might believe through him (John 1, 7). So why come? To bear witness to the light. Why take this testimony? So that all might believe through him. And in what light he has come to bear witness? There was the true light. Because the evangelist adds true? Because even the man who can be called light is illuminated, but the true light that enlightens.

He came to the aid of spirits weak, the wounded hearts, to heal the sick view of the soul. To this was. (...) If man had not turned away from God, would not need to be enlightened: he had to be, because he had moved away from those who could always enlighten.

But then if he came, where was he? In this world was. There was and there came: there was as God, there came as a man, because, although here as God, could not be seen by the fools, the blind, the wicked. The wicked are the darkness that has been said: The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. Behold, he is here now too, was there, and there will always be: never turns away from nowhere. So you can see the man who never walked away from you, it is necessary that you do not ever turn away from those who are present everywhere: Do not ever leave and not be abandoned. Try not to fall for you and the light will never fade. If you fall, he goes down for you, but if you stay on his feet, he stands in front of you. But you're not left standing: remember where you have fallen from the heights you have fallen who fell before you. Did it fall, not by force or inducement, but with your consent. In fact, if you had not allowed the bad, you'd be standing, you'd still be in the light. But now, because you fell and six wounded in the heart, which alone is capable of seeing that light, it has come to you as you could see it.

( Augustine, from the "Commentary on the Gospel of John 2, 5-8)
